My Angels
Wish You Were Here

Morning Meadow

I love walking in the meadow
When the sun begins to show...
To watch the dew drops sparkle
In the pink and lovely glow.

Do you think I’ll find a flower
That I missed yesterday?
Or will I find some other marvel
As I wander on my way?

I use this time so selfishly,
For to myself I talk....
And I ponder all the mysteries,
And the beauty of this spot.

Haiku From the Heart

Wherever I go
I carry with me always
Thoughts of your kindness.

My life is a book
With, oh, so many chapters
And many dog-eared pages.

Stop and listen, friend,
To little sounds forgotten,
Hiding in our haste.

Why are you crying?
Your tears are diamonds so bright...
Sadness beyond price.

You are so clever!
Hidden smiles are in your eyes,
But I can see them.

The flower nods it’s bloom
Playing with the breeze, I think...
It agrees with me.

The Heart Cave

I must remember
to go down to the heart cave
& sweep it clean; make it warm
with a fire on the hearth,
& the candles in their niches,
the pictures on the walls
glowing with a quiet light

I must remember
to go down to the heart cave
& make the bed
with the quilt from home,
strew rushes on the floor
& hang lavender and sage
from the corners

I must go down
to the heart cave & be there
when you come.

Forever Friend

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
someone who changes your life by being a part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
someone who makes you believe that there is really good in this world.

Someone who convinces you that there is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.

This is forever friendship.

When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.

Your forever friend gets you through the hard times,
and the sad times, and the confused times.

If you turn and walk away your forever friend follows.
If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on.

Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be a-okay.

And when you find such a friend, you'll feel happy and complete, because you need not worry.

You have a forever friend for life and forever has no end.

My Mother My Angel
(Written for a dear friend who lost his mother to cancer)

Mom today I said goodbye to you,
To your body here on Earth,
I know you still are with me,
As you have been,
since before my birth.

Forever will you live within my heart,
Your voice I’ll always hear,
Your touch is a lasting imprint,
On the memories that I hold dear.

I know my broken heart will heal,
With each new passing day,
I’m happy that your pain is gone,
No more bravery need be shone today.

Thank you mom for showing me,
How life on Earth should be,
I treasure every moment shared,
In my soul shall they always be.

Fly high mom, soar above the clouds,
I’ll listen closely to the breeze,
For in the gentle whispers,
I know that you will be.

My angels follow me each and every day,
They hold me,
They guide me,
They show me the way.

We all have angels near us,
So sad that many don’t understand,
Angels want our cautious footsteps to fall on solid land.

Trust the quiet whispers,
Turn and look as your hair stands on end,
For it is your loving angels,
holding tight onto your hand.

(Written for my sister when she lost her husband of 30 years to cancer)

I’ll gaze at the sunrise,
remember our hopes, our dreams,
and wish you were here.

I’ll look at our children,
remember our pride,
and wish you were here.

I’ll lie in our bed,
remember the comfort of your touch,
and wish you were here.

I’ll walk the land,
remember your excitement of the hunt,
and wish you were here.

I’ll treasure our memories,
remember our love,
and wish you were here.

You’ll live within my heart,
give me strength,
calm my fears,
because of these things,
forever and always, you will be here.
