| March 11, 2002: I live in a house built in the 1920's that has had some periodic ghostly activity. Anyway, about a month ago, my sister was at my door about to drop off my 3 year old nephew, whom I keep sometimes. It was about 7 a.m., and fairly light outside. When I ran to unlock the door, she was holding Caleb and looking quite alarmed. Caleb squirmed out of her arms, and looked toward the dining room and very confusedly asked, "Where did she go? Where is that lady?" His mother then told me that when they came to the door, she clearly saw a small, elderly woman in a housecoat, sitting hunched over on my sofa, through the glass panels on my door. She rang the bell, wondering if I had a neighbor over to visit. The woman jumped up, startled, and ran toward the dining room! I haven't seen anything, and I've only captured a few orbs on camera, but I'm keeping an eye out!
July 9, 2002: Both of my sisters came by yesterday, and we got on the subject of my ghost(s?). I had posted the story about my great great grandmother's bed a while back and mentioned that I was going to dig out a photo of her and show it to my youngest sister to see if it matched the woman she saw in my house a while back. Well, it did not. The woman she saw was much smaller, frailer, and darker complected.
The middle sister had not heard about this and told us that about six months ago she had a similar experience. She said she had rang the doorbell late one evening, but I had not been home. She looked in through the glass and saw a small, frail, elderly woman sitting on my sofa, she looked directly at her and the woman ran toward the dining room! She didn't mention it, and the incident slipped her mind. This almost matches exactly to what the youngest one described.
The only variation in the stories is that one said she had long grey hair, the other described it as being darker. One said she was in a white gown, the other said it was black. Does she have a wardrobe?!
On a whim, I dug out another picture of another great grandma, the little Choctaw woman who had raised my Dad. I've always felt some special connection with her even though she passed away 25 years before I was born. The girls both agreed it very well could have been her.
I've been racking my brain trying to think of anything of hers that I might have in the house that would make her attach herself to it, and the only thing I can think of besides her picture, is a small teacup I keep on the coffee table in front of the sofa. Anyway, if it is her, I can't think of anyone I would rather be haunted by! She was supposed to have been an absolute angel here on earth, and maybe she just likes to drop in for visits!
I've always felt she was a "guardian angel" for me, and I've occasionally had dreams about her through the years. Incidentally, about a year ago, Amethyst over at GS and I corresponded about Spirit Guardians (I think that was the term used). Anyway, she gave the name of my spirit guardian as Arabell -- Granny's name...Arabella!
