| It all began one quiet evening at our home in Kansas. My husband and I went to bed for the evening. Around 2:30 AM, my husband awoke to use the restroom. I woke up and realized I, also had to go. I got up, opened the door and immediately the air surrounding the hallway had a strange feeling about it. I chucked it up to my imagination and walked down the hall to the bathroom. I was still feeling a little spooked when I came out, so I ran down the hall, shut the bedroom door and jumped into bed. The door was closed! I laid back down and within seconds, the door opened by itself and slammed shut again.
My husband, who was facing the door, saw the whole event. The A/C was not on, nor was there any draft to cause the door open and then close. Needless to say, we were spooked. Nothing like this had ever happened before. We talked for a few minutes, trying to rationzlize what had just happened and then decided to go back to sleep. I turned over and closed my eyes and someone whispered in my ear "Goodnight." I immediately turned over and looked at my husband and he was already sound asleep. That evening was the start of all the things to come.
From then on, strange things happened at all times of the day, especially at night. We had lights that would turn themselves on and off, buzzers that would go off when no one had touched them, you would hear someone walking in the attic when no one else was home and smoke alarms would go off in the middle of the night with no batteries in them.
The day came when we needed to move into a bigger home. I thought well hopefully this new home will be nice and quiet. I was wrong. We moved in and the first few nights I fell asleep with the TV on, the sound helps me to sleep. When I awoke in the middle of the night (I was pregnant and nature was screaming in my ear), I found the TV was off. I just assumed my husband had awoke in the middle of the night and turned it off. I asked him the next moring and he said he never woke up. This happened several times so finally I just left the TV off at night.
The house is about 50 years old and I am unsure of its history. The spirits that I have seen are not at all frightening, just surprising. They especially like to play with my son's toys. There have been many times, espeically at night, when I will wake to hear some of his toys going off. I tell whatever it is to quit, we are trying to sleep and it stops.
We have lived here for about three years and I am intrigued to find out the history of this home. It could be the house, but maybe they followed us from our previous home.
